From Venezuela to the Riviera Maya: A Time-Defying Journey

Hola Hola Amaichiin People and Citizens of the World. I am Carlos Medina, the creator of Carlos Spanish Vibes, and I am thrilled to take you on a unique journey spanning years of stories, laughter, and, of course, some unexpected twists.

"Carlos Medina", Canada Over four years ago, I recorded a first episode with no inkling of the incredible paths life had in store for me. Back then, I shared my journey from my native Venezuela to my adopted home in Canada, exploring every nook and cranny and embracing the cultures that shaped me. I never imagined those everyday tales were preparing me for the Carlos you see today. From conquering fears to learning new languages, each experience has been a step in my evolution.

"Living the Riviera Maya" And here we are, more than four years later, in the beautiful Riviera Maya in Mexico. Who would have thought that the journey not only would continue but would lead me to this paradise! The Riviera Maya has become my new home, and each day is a new adventure that I am eager to share.

But before we dive into the turquoise waters and lush jungles of the Riviera Maya, let's go back to those early days, to our starting point. Let's relive together our first episode!

This episode, titled WHO AM I?, is a glimpse into my roots and my evolution over the years.

I am a Venezuelan who emigrated to Canada several years ago and has constantly struggled to integrate and evolve in this society that kindly opened its doors to me. Today, I can proudly say that I am a Franco-Canadian by choice, finding a balance between the culture of my birthplace in Valencia, Carabobo State, and the culture I chose to develop in Canada. My childhood and adolescence unfolded in Lechería, Anzoátegui State, in front of the beach, and later, I completed my university studies in San Cristóbal, Táchira State, near the border with Colombia in the sector called Norte de Santander.

My parents, whom I affectionately call 'patas calientes' (hot feet), instilled in me a passion for travel, taking us to explore Venezuela as a family. I remember those Fridays after school when they would pick us up to explore new places across the country. Those moments of family adventure are treasures I cherish, as are the long summer vacations in various regions of Venezuela and beyond. I never imagined that those ordinary experiences would prepare me to be the Carlos you are seeing today. I don't forget the importance of overcoming fears and attachments to cultivate a winning mindset in everyday life.

Continuing with my story, the day I obtained my Canadian citizenship, I made a promise to myself to explore every corner of this vast and beautiful country. A challenging task, but here I go, from adventure to adventure, province to province. I'm getting closer with each step! Another interesting facet of my journey is the challenge of learning new languages. Upon arriving in Canada, I already had a foundation in English, but living in a French-speaking region like Montreal, the countless comical situations that arose in my attempt to learn French are beyond measure. I decided to dedicate myself to French, and today, my social life is a perfect Franglish, a mix of French, English, and, of course, Spanish when I'm with my family. My experiences in Montreal have taught me to reinvent myself and grow as a human being, always remembering my roots and adapting to new challenges. It's not easy, I tell you, but there we go, from adventure to adventure.

Isn't it funny how life can take unexpected turns? From that initial episode until today, we've grown as a community, explored new horizons, and laughed together. The evolution has been amazing.

So here we are, connecting the past with the present. Thank you for being part of this journey from the beginning and for following me as I cross borders and discover new chapters of my life. I'm excited for what the future holds, whether it's from Canada, Venezuela, or now, from the beautiful Riviera Maya. See you in the next adventure!
